vi nozomi (they/them)
i am a documentary filmmaker and producer with roots in the us south and tokyo, japan. themes i am drawn to in my work include: relationships within diasporic communities, environment as a character, queerness as a worldview, recovery as a generational journey, emotion as a language that is still learning how to speak itself.
i spent a summer with The Washington Post creating short-form documentary videos for local and national audiences; an self-employed season forming and shaping a feature length film with From Kudzu Collective; and the past three years working as a PA, video editor and producer/director with Wild Tame, a creative agency in Tokyo.
i'm a member of the Asian American Documentary Network (A-Doc) and The Video Consortium.
